Ian Keatley
Associate Director - Boys' Choir
Ian is currently Director of Music at Westminster Abbey Choir School and was previously Deputy Master of Music at the Chapels Royal, H M Tower of London. From 2004 – 2006 he was Organ Scholar at Westminster Abbey where he played for a number of Royal and State Occasions including the 60th Anniversary of the end of World War II and State memorial services for former Prime Minister Lord Callaghan and comedian Ronnie Barker.
Whilst Organ Scholar at Southwark Cathedral from 2002 – 2004, Ian founded and directed the Cathedral Merbecke Choir which performed services, concerts and recitals for City of London Livery Companies. In 2004 he graduated from the Royal College of Music where he was a prize winner for Organ Performance. Before moving to London, Ian was a Choral Scholar at Wells Cathedral and studied singing with Ashley Stafford.
During the past three years Ian has been Organist and Director of Music at St John’s Beaumont, a boarding school in Old Windsor, Berkshire. In July 2007 the Choristers of St John embarked on a Concert Tour of Rome including a sung High Mass at the Basilica of St Peter in the Vatican and the Church of St Ignatius, Rome. The choir commissioned a number of works from British choral composers and broadcast on BBC radio.
In 2009, Ian performed an organ and bagpipe duet recital with Her Majesty’s The Queen’s Piper at Westminster Abbey, a first for the recital series at the Abbey! Recently he has performed at Westminster Cathedral, St Paul’s Cathedral, Southwark Cathedral, Liverpool Cathedral, St Alban’s Cathedral and Truro Cathedral.
