Charles Wood Summer School 2010
Welcome Message
August 22nd 2010 heralds the beginning of the nineteenth Charles Wood Summer School; a week of exciting choral and instrumental music in Armagh. As always, the emphasis will be on music for liturgical use in various church ceremonies. The Charles Wood Singers, a choir of some 45 members drawn from Ireland and England, perform to a very demanding standard under the direction of David Hill, assisted this year by Daniel Hyde.
As well as the now well established events, there are some new and exciting additions to the programme. August 23rd promises to be a valuable day for those involved with choirs, either as directors, conductors, accompanists or members.
During the week there will be three lunchtime concerts in First Presbyterian Church; if you are free please come along for a pleasant experience. There will also be a Concert by Candlelight in the Roman Catholic Cathedral on August 25th and our Gala Concert will be in the Church of Ireland Cathedral on August 27th.
Once again, we are delighted to welcome Paul Farrington who needs no introduction to singers and voice trainers. Those wishing to have individual lessons with Paul can find more information in the Vocal Tuition section.
We hope that many will make their way to Armagh during the week to enjoy the varied music activities and concerts.
