Charles Wood Singers
At the heart of the Summer School are the Charles Wood Singers, a choir of approximately fifty members which come together specially for the week each year; singers from Northern Ireland are joined by musicians from the Republic of Ireland and England.
Directed by David Hill and Daniel Hyde, the Charles Wood Singers present music of the highest standard at various services, including Sung Mass, Sung Eucharist and Choral Evensong. A particular highlight is the Gala Concert, traditionally held on Friday evening in the Church of Ireland Cathedral, at which the Charles Wood Singers and the Boys Choir treat the audience to a selection of sacred masterpieces performed during the week.
Testimonials
The Charles Wood Summer School offers the rare opportunity to work with maestro David Hill, a truly inspirational figure, not only for his incomparable musicality but the manner with which he manages singers, from burgeoning chorister to experienced professional.
The wonderful memories I have of singing with the Charles Wood Summer School in Armagh are ones that I will always cherish.
