Alto Scholarship 2023

Rebekka Irwin

This year, the Charles Wood Festival is offering 4 free scholarship places for singers from the island of Ireland to join the Charles Wood Singers. This year's alto scholar is Rebekka Irwin.

Rebekka is currently a Masters Vocal Studies student at the University of York under the mentorship of Susan Young and holds the Dame Janet Baker scholarship for performance. She is a member of Robert Hollingworth's 'The 24' and has performed in venues such as York Minster. In 2020, she graduated from Liverpool Hope University with a First-Class Honours degree in a Bachelor's of Music and during her studies was awarded a three-year scholarship for Performance Potential.

In 2021/22, she was an alto choral scholar at Liverpool Cathedral and a member of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir. This August, she is delighted to be a member of the Charles Wood Singers and is looking forward to taking part in the fantastic array of music events during the Festival.
